Road Construction Safety Information

Rock RoadTM considers safety to be the highest priority. Our procedures have been highlighted and helped influence the industry.

The safety of our employees is Rock Road’sTM highest priority. As one of the largest road building and asphalt construction companies in Southern Wisconsin, Rock RoadTM has always placed safety management at the forefront of their business model.

Rock RoadTM has a Risk Manager and a Safety Manager whose sole responsibilities are to protect the health and welfare of their employees. We go above and beyond by exceeding all state and federal safety regulations for each job. Our commitment to safety is a priority and our goal is to ensure that our employees are working in safest environment possible. We make sure that everyone, from a laborer to the grading superintendent, have the personal responsibility to enforce all elements of our safety program.

Before an employee begins their first day of work, a comprehensive and site-specific safety manual is in place that identifies hazards, guidelines, and best practices for each and every employee. Our training programs teach employees to identify and correct unsafe work practices. If we cannot correct an unsafe condition, we will not continue the work. During these trainings, all employees are given the tools and education they need to prepare them both mentally and physically for each work day.

“I’m reminded every day that safety is an extremely people-oriented profession. A smart company invests in its people. Equipment depreciates, but with proper training, quality employees just keep getting better.”

-Ryan Spies, Director of Risk Management

In addition to daily safety meetings, Rock RoadTM monitors the training needs of each employee at our annual health and safety meeting. The annual safety meeting is an extensive multi-day event that reinforces our commitment to safety.

Rock Road’sTM safety procedures have been highlighted in a few major magazines from the Construction Industry including: National Safety Council’s Safety + Health, J.J. Keller & Associates, Inc. Keller’s Construction & Utility Catalog, and National Asphalt Pavement Association’s Asphalt Pavement Magazine.
